Playful Meets Polished

The Støry

This bathroom needed to function primarily for the kids while still feeling welcoming and presentable for guests. The existing layout and materials felt outdated and impractical, with mixed flooring, wallpaper throughout, and low-performing storage.

Although the room included two single-sink vanities, storage was spread across multiple areas and there wasn’t a dedicated place for laundry. Overall, the space was difficult to maintain day to day and wasn’t set up for the wear and tear of a busy household.

The Design

This design required a careful balance. Our client leans more traditional than modern, so we aimed for a space that felt classic, yet still fresh and unexpected. With this being a high-traffic kids’ bathroom, we also focused on durability. Carpet and other dated materials were removed in favor of hard, easy-to-clean surfaces that could withstand daily use. The client’s only requirements were no gray and include a Toto toilet.

Next, we reworked the layout. The original dual-vanity setup was consolidated into one double-sink vanity, allowing the opposite wall to be fully reimagined as much-needed storage. The upper and lower cabinets were finished in a slightly different tone to maintain cohesion without feeling overly matched or heavy. We also replaced and flipped the entry door so it opens directly toward the new vanity.

The fixtures and hardware palette were built around a warm, layered mix of champagne bronze, antique brass, and gold accents to complement the desired updated-antique style. The arched shower opening became a focal point within the design, paired with a checkered tile pattern that added the perfect amount of playful charm. Even the shower shelving was integrated in the same tile for a cohesive, intentional finish.

Throughout the space, curved elements were introduced to soften the structured lines of the vanity and tile work—from the arched shower entry to the mirror and faucet shapes—creating a subtle balance between modern structure and traditional elegance. Board and batten paneling was carried through the room to connect with the home’s updated interior doors.

The result is a bathroom that feels fun, elevated, and fully refreshed—equally functional for kids and polished enough for guests, with durability and warmth at its core.
