Light & Airy Øffice

 

The Støry

Our client came to us with a challenge—and a vision. She needed a home office that could do it all: serve as a guest room, house her piano, double as a workout space, and showcase her most cherished pieces. The result is a multifunctional room that effortlessly balances work, wellness, and rest.

The Design

The room began as a blank slate with a long list of needs, and fitting multiple functions into one space quickly became the main design challenge. We started by building a 3D model to test layouts and incorporate the pieces our client wanted to keep.

Because the room primarily functions as a home office, we placed the desk under the windows to take full advantage of natural light and create a bright, productive workspace. As the first wall you see when entering the room, it immediately sets the tone, and we were able to incorporate our client’s existing desk, desktop, and floor lamp.

We debated between a Murphy bed and a pull-out sofa, but chose the Murphy bed to preserve valuable floor space. The layout was then carefully planned so it could be pulled down without disrupting the room. The wall was finished with wallpaper and open shelving, giving our client a place to display her collectibles and treasures. The lower cabinets provide much-needed storage and double as a convenient nightstand when guests are staying over.

On the opposite wall, we positioned the Peloton in the corner facing the window for a light-filled workout, while keeping it visually discreet during the workday. The piano fits perfectly into the remaining corner, and we added fluted panels to highlight our client’s prized artwork and give the wall an entirely custom, sculptural feel.

With so many functions in one room, avoiding visual clutter was key. We kept the design light with a neutral color palette to ensure the room felt calm rather than overwhelming. What started as a disorganized, underutilized room is now a beautiful, highly functional space where every wall serves a purpose and everything has a place.
