The Støry
Our client came to us after an exhausting search to remodel much of her home—starting with the primary bathroom. Not only did it have extensive water damage, it was obvious that the space wasn’t best utilized and she needed that oasis. She had a clear sense of the styles she loved but struggled to envision how to bring them together in a cohesive, realistic way. After meeting with countless contractors who lacked true design vision and seemed focused only on getting the job, she was ready for something different. What she really wanted was a hands-off experience—someone to take the wheel from start to finish. Enter us.
The Design
Our design was inspired by the client’s personality and her love of nature. She gravitated toward natural colors but didn’t lean fully farmhouse or modern, so our goal was to create a timeless sanctuary that blended serenity with functionality.
The main challenge was space and storage. Despite the abundant natural light, the existing oval tub and overhead ducting made the bathroom feel tight and claustrophobic. To truly maximize the footprint, we had to use every square inch with intention while carving out distinct zones for each function of the bathroom.
We relocated the shower plumbing to the opposite wall and extended the pony wall all the way to the ceiling, reinforcing the framing and incorporating three custom niches for ample storage. This change also allowed the powder room to feel more intimate, so we emphasized the separation with a charming arched entry—an architectural detail repeated in the lighting, medicine cabinets, and décor for a cohesive design language.
The vanity wall became a major focal point. We reframed to recess custom medicine cabinets seamlessly into the wall, paired them with a sleek new double vanity featuring six soft-close drawers, and topped it with a durable white quartz countertop and oversized sinks. Floating shelves in both the vanity area and powder room expanded storage options while decluttering the counters. Even small details—like framing in the toilet paper holder with a wallpapered niche and fabricating a custom towel rack—were designed to maximize function while elevating the look.
Our client’s one request was a non-rainfall, height-adjustable shower system with multiple spray options. To meet her needs, we engineered a custom setup for the shower. We also added pull-out faucets at the vanity for added utility.
To balance the predominantly brass finishes, we introduced touches of black for contrast and depth. Tilework became an art form: every piece was hand-cut and purposefully placed, from the tub to the ceiling, creating texture and visual flow. The large-format porcelain floor tiles grounded the entire design with a modern, polished finish.
Finally, the décor tied everything together—layering warmth, elegance, and a spa-like feel. This is one of Devin’s favorite parts. Not only because he doesn’t have to do it 🤭 but because he loves how it wows even him! After six weeks away from her bathroom, our client’s first reaction said it all: tears of joy.
