Bright & Refined
The Støry
Our client came to us in need of a full-level refresh, reimagining the entryway, dining room, kitchen and wet bar, living room, and fireplace as one cohesive space. While the home already featured beautiful vaulted wood ceilings, the combination of warm tones in the cabinetry and flooring made the space feel darker and more dated than desired. The goal was to create an environment that matched the energy of the family who lives there, along with more intentional storage and display solutions for photos, collected pieces, and their thriving pothos plant. They also wanted a large reclining sectional that could comfortably accommodate the whole family.
The Design
The main level of this home is fully open concept, so creating continuity from space to space became a top priority in the design. We replaced the flooring throughout the entire level and refreshed the kitchen and wet bar cabinetry in a creamy white, instantly brightening the home and creating the contrast needed for the vaulted ceilings to truly shine.
Storage and display were another major focus throughout the renovation. Before, the home relied on multiple standalone furniture pieces that lacked cohesion and took up valuable floor space. We replaced those with intentional built-ins, floating shelves, and storage cabinets designed to showcase the family’s favorite items or conceal everyday essentials. One of our favorite details was creating a dedicated space for their thriving pothos plant to continue growing in a more intentional and contained way.
One of the more complex installs was adding pendant lighting above the kitchen island without disrupting the wood ceiling, so we routed wiring through the attic to create a seamless floating effect. We also installed a custom butcher block countertop on the raised island tier below.
Throughout the project, we focused on updates that felt bright, functional, and connected to the way the family actually lives. We layered in new lighting, window treatments, and furniture that softened the spaces while creating a more refined feel overall. We secured the family’s approval on their new reclining sectional and replaced the ceiling fans in both the dining and living rooms.
Now, the home feels light, inviting, and far more connected from room to room while still holding onto the warmth that made it special to begin with. Thoughtful updates and layered styling gave the space an entirely new energy without stripping away its original character.
